Studio Violin and Viola Recital Performers - Summer 2016 - South Bend, IN

Studio Violin and Viola Recital Performers - Summer 2016 - South Bend, IN

We can’t hope to keep today’s students engaged by replicating the lessons we grew up with—it’s all too gradual, too structured, too slow for students used to moving at the speed of Google.
— Philip Johnston

Lessons in my studio are dynamic, individualized and exciting! Lessons include musicianship, theory, history and other activities tailored to the student's specific interests and goals. A large group of achievements are set up for each piece played, and propel students through a series of small targets instead of simply working toward "finishing the piece".

How are lessons scheduled?

Lessons are held weekly and scheduled at the mutual convenience of the teacher and student.

How old do you have to be to take lessons?

Ages 8 and up are accepted after an initial consultation/audition.

How long are lessons?

Lessons are 30, 45 or 60 minutes in length. The appropriate length of lesson will be determined in your consultation.

Can I sign up for extra lessons or more time?

Absolutely! If you would like extra lessons before a recital, competition or during summer vacation from school, open days/times are listed on the studio calendar.

How many lessons are there?

As many as you want! Once you sign up for lessons, there is no need to register again every session. Lessons will be held weekly (except in the case of major holidays and predetermined vacation weeks) and you will only need to tell me if you would like to take a break from lessons with 30 days notice.

Do you give make up lessons?

If you cannot make it to your lesson, students/parents should give me as much notice as possible. I prefer that students make an effort to switch times with one another. If this is not a possibility, please let me know more than 24 hours in advance and we will schedule a time for a make up.
